Summary of Work Hours and Shifts:
  • C&D operates primarily on one shift. We believe that operating one shift provides a good match of production capacity to our long-term sustainable timber supply and allows us to work our employees year-round without seasonal layoffs.
  • Our operating hours during the week are nine-hour shifts Monday through Thursday, and one four-hour shift Friday. This schedule accommodates our training programs and preventive maintenance programs by making time available on Fridays for a variety of learning opportunities. (It also provides those employees with big plans a jump on the weekend traffic!)
  • During the summer months we add an additional "Flex Crew" for approximately a four-month period on swing shift. This team will run four different processing areas on alternating nights to help us liquidate our air-dried inventory before the winter. Typically the employees who go to the "flex crew" have created opportunities to advance their training and wages by learning multiple jobs while on the swing shift.
